Hi, I’m Kaila.
I am a Yoga Instructor, World Traveler, Educator, Mother, and Land Steward at Allen Farm.
I have lived on Martha’s Vineyard since I was a child, leaving to explore the world only to find myself back here as an adult, raising my own children. During my time spent living in eco-villages in West Africa, India, and Scotland my path was guided towards deepening connection to place, and building community through practices of permaculture, yoga and education.
In 2014 I co-founded a cooperative homeschool with my sister, which now engages children ages 1 - 9 in a model of nature-based education rooted in community resilience, natural rhythms, music, and the surrounding environment. I have taught yoga for 15 years, and my practice has been inspired most deeply by her training in Ashtanga yoga and the Krishnamacharya lineage. Holding space for both children and adults as an educator has led me to explore further connections to the cyclical nature of life, and developed into exploring the role of birth doula, and death doula in more recent years.
With the future generations as our most profound guide, I believe no matter what role we are in at any moment, it is our connection to each other and to our own natural rhythms that will move us towards peace and sovereignty.
